Former Nyeri Town MP Hon. Ngunjiri Wambugu has outlined a 10-point agenda he says will guide his leadership of the Jubilee Party if elected National Chairperson.

At the centre of his campaign is the #HeshimuMember agenda, which seeks to place ordinary party members at the heart of Jubilee’s decision-making and political direction.

Wambugu says his first priority will be to strengthen consultation within the party. He promises to make members’ views an important part of decisions concerning party leadership, policies, party organs, alliances and election strategy.

He also pledges to protect internal democracy by ensuring that party officials and organs operate within the party Constitution while allowing members to question decisions and demand accountability without being labelled disloyal.

Another key proposal is the holding of regular and transparent National Delegates Conventions (NDCs). Wambugu says Jubilee needs clear rules, timelines, a verified delegate register and credible accreditation processes that give delegates confidence in the party’s decision-making structures.

The former legislator also promises to rebuild Jubilee from the grassroots by strengthening branches and party activities at county, constituency and ward levels. He says members should remain active and engaged even outside election periods.

Wambugu further proposes regular engagement with aspirants, arguing that candidates seeking various elective positions should be treated as partners in rebuilding and strengthening the party.

On nominations, he promises to push for clear and consistent rules, transparent timelines and credible dispute-resolution mechanisms so that candidates can compete fairly and on equal terms.

Accountability is another major pillar of his proposed leadership. Wambugu says party leaders should regularly report to party organs and members on decisions, plans and progress.

He also promises fair and impartial disciplinary processes, including due process and clear procedures for handling complaints, while protecting members’ right to disagree and seek lawful redress.

On party resources, Wambugu says he will advocate for accountability of all Jubilee resources through transparent authorised organs, procedures and processes.

Finally, he wants members to have a greater say in Jubilee’s political direction, including decisions on policies, alliances, coalitions and election strategy.

His broader message is centred on “Heshimu Members, Build Jubilee, Unite Kenya and Win Together,” presenting his candidacy as a push for a more participatory, accountable and member-driven Jubilee Party.
