More than 500 Jubilee Party aspirants from Ndaragwa Constituency in Nyandarua County have resolved to rally behind Dr Fred Matiang’i as their preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a Jubilee Party aspirants’ forum in Ndaragwa, the aspirants said they would embark on an aggressive grassroots mobilisation campaign to popularise the Jubilee Party across Mt Kenya and build support for its candidates at all levels.
The aspirants described Matiang’i as one of the most competent leaders within the opposition ranks, saying his experience in government and record of public service make him a strong candidate capable of providing national leadership.
They further called on Jubilee Party Deputy Party Leader Hon Jeremiah Kioni to offer himself for the position of Deputy President and compete with other candidates seeking the same position. The aspirants said they would support Kioni if he decides to pursue the position and expressed confidence that a Matiang’i-Kioni ticket could resonate strongly with voters in Mt Kenya and beyond.
The meeting also agreed on the need for Jubilee aspirants to work together and support one another as they seek elective positions in their respective constituencies and wards.
The aspirants committed themselves to sharing campaign resources, experiences and networks, arguing that a united team would have a stronger chance of securing multiple elective positions for Jubilee across the region.
They said the party’s grassroots campaign would go beyond traditional political rallies and focus on sustained engagement with ordinary citizens.
“We will knock on doors, visit villages, attend church gatherings, meet women’s groups, engage young people, visit markets and shopping centres and speak directly to the people,” the aspirants resolved.
They said the objective would be to rebuild Jubilee from the grassroots, reconnect the party with voters and present its candidates as a united team ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Ndaragwa forum is part of efforts by Jubilee leaders and aspirants to strengthen the party’s presence in Mt Kenya and create a coordinated political network ahead of the next General Election.
The aspirants maintained that their campaign would focus on unity, grassroots mobilisation and supporting one another, with the ultimate goal of securing Jubilee representation across the region while drumming up support for their preferred presidential candidate.
